Last week, prior to the Corcoran City Council Meeting, the City had the opportunity to collaborate with Comcast for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! This celebration marked one year since Comcast broke ground on their rural broadband expansion project in Corcoran and celebrated the completion of the Minnesota Border-to-Border Grant project that has made Comcast services available to all of Corcoran. See below for more details about the project and to view photos from the event!
In 2023, the City was awarded $1,298,785 from the Minnesota Border-to-Border Grant Program to help fund broadband infrastructure throughout the City. This grant was combined with $108,000 from ARPA funding, a Hennepin County Broadband grant of an additional $108,000, and partnered with Comcast, who made an additional contribution of over $2.8M to install high-speed fiber lines throughout the city.
Thank you to Comcast and everyone involved, including Corcoran Mayor, Tom McKee, Hennepin County Commissioner - District 7, Kevin Anderson, and Minnesota State Representative, Kristin Robbins, who all spoke at the event.
