Recycling Payment Options
The City of Corcoran has partnered with Republic Services to provide convenient payment options to residents for their recycling services. All payments for recycling services should be made directly to Republic Services. Account logins can be setup and payments can be made through Republic Service's simple and secure Bill Pay portal at https://www.republicservices.com/pay-bill.
Payments can also be made over the telephone to Republic Services using a credit/debit card at 1-877-692-9729. Make sure to have your bill handy -- as you'll need your 12-digit account number (that begins with a "3") and the zip code of the service address. You can also mail your payment along with the remittance slip to the address on the bottom of your invoice. Write your 12-digit account number (that begins with a "3") on your check. It'll take 5 to 7 business days for a payment to post to your account.

Any unpaid recycling fees will be certified to Hennepin County and will be added to your property tax bill. For more information, contact the City of Corcoran at 763-420-2288.

Non-Organic Single-Stream Recycling

Single-stream recycling means there is no sorting needed. All recyclable items can be placed together in one cart. Recycling carts must be at the end of your driveway (not in the roadway) by 6:00 am, as actual pick-up times may vary. Place your recycling cart facing forward at least 3 feet away from your garbage container and 3 feet away from mailboxes.

Recycle Old Batteries

In Minnesota, it's illegal to throw certain types of batteries in the trash. Some contain mercury, lead, and cadmium, which are toxic to humans and harmful to the environment if disposed of improperly. Even small batteries can pack a toxic punch. For example, if batteries end up at an incinerator, they can release harmful chemicals during combustion.

Recharge And Recycle

The first and simplest thing you can do to keep batteries from harming the environment is to buy rechargeable batteries. Americans purchase almost three billion dry-cell batteries per year. That's a lot of toxic metal getting thrown away. Rechargeable batteries can be recharged 500 to 1,000 times. This not only reduces waste, it saves you money in the long run. Just be sure to recycle the batteries when they're done.

When rechargeable batteries, or any other kind, lose their power, you can dispose of them in the recycling container outside the front doors at City Hall. Batteries are also accepted at the Hennepin County's collection site at 8100 Jefferson Hwy in Brooklyn Park.

Batteries are collected from households only. No batteries are accepted from businesses. A depleted battery may still contain a residual charge. Place each battery into an individual plastic bag or place non-conductive tape over the battery terminals to prevent short-circuiting during storage and transport.
