Corcoran's Burschville School House
Visit Corcoran's One-Room School House
Location: 22995 County Road 10, Corcoran, MN
In 1894 on CO RD 10 west of CO RD 116 1/4 mile east of CO RD 19, a school house was built in Corcoran and Burschville. District 107 served the farming community until May 1967, when the school closed and the furnishings were sold at an auction. Later the North Hennepin Pioneer Society purchased the one-acre piece of land where the school stood from the Weinand family for $1,000. After a couple of years of searching, buying ,and receiving donations, it again resembles the one-room school house of the past.
Open house fundraiser functions during the summer help fund the expenses of insurance, painting, utilities, maintenance and lawn mowing. The North Hennepin Pioneer Society is continuously seeking historical documents, photographs,or items for donation.
North Hennepin Pioneer Society is also seeking voluntary help for grounds and building maintenance, and monetary donations to help with these expenses. For donations, more information, or to set up a tour contact Bonnie Maue 763-420-3440 or 763-639-1438, Betty Lange 763-286-0877, or Verneal Klersy 763-498-8677.
It is the North Hennepin Pioneer Society's vision that this part of Corcoran's history will remain to enlighten and enrich future generations.
