Accountant

The City of Corcoran is a rapidly growing community on the western edge of Hennepin County. The City is currently accepting applications for an Accountant.

The Accountant position will coordinate and perform accounting activities while providing assistance to the City Administrator, Finance Manager, and City Council on financial planning and related matters. Responsibilities include performing complex accounting and financial tasks while maintaining and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the City's financial records. Other duties include payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and assisting the Finance Manager with the annual audits.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership and customer service skills, as well as knowledge of general accounting principles and state auditor guidelines. This will be an exciting opportunity for an individual to assist a fast-growing community in planning its future. This position will have a direct impact on the continued financial stability of the City and will provide valuable accounting and financial assistance as the City continues to grow in population and staffing. Minimum qualifications include an associate degree and three or more years of general accounting and customer service experience, or equivalent. Candidates will also be required to pass a pre-employment background check and have a valid driver's license.

Desired qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or finance. Additional desired qualifications include knowledge of governmental practices and policies and experience with municipal accounting software.

The salary range is $67,974 - $82,930. Starting salary will depend on qualifications.
